You are sure that you want to start a business, but you don't have much experience and even less funds so what is a good beginner business that will grow as you grow? Here are a few ideas:
Household Services: With the increase in two job households, time to undertake housework and garden work becomes short. There will always be a demand for services as gardening, cleaning, ironing and window cleaning. You can grow the business by taking on staff and expanding your customer base.
Catering Services: If cooking, cake decorating or sommelier services are your skill then you can start up a small business with little capital outlay. You can expand by taking on more staff and expanding your customer base, as above. You can also move into a café, restaurant or professional kitchen. Aligning yourself with party and wedding planners can expand your business quite quickly.
Craft Sales: If you have a craft skill and think you can sell your jewellery, pots, quilts, dresses, hats etc. then you have the making of an ideal small business. Expansion by selling on the internet, eBay, etsy etc. or by holding party planning business.
Gift Business: If you are artistic then you can start a gift basket, floral, hamper, balloon etc business. Expansion can be made by joining retail systems such as Interflora or by setting up a party business. Expansion can be to a retail outlet or mall stall or kart.
Health Services: People always want to feel better. If you are a skilled hairdresser, manicurist or masseuse or are a keep fit enthusiast then you can easily sell these services either at people's homes or offices. Again expansion can be via a retail environment or by aligning with a party or wedding planner.
Caring Services: As the world gets older, they need looking after. The fasting growing franchise companies are in the caring area. If you feel that you can look after the mature and ill within their own homes and have the required skills this is an area which is very under supplied. Expansion can be had by employing people and expanding your customer base.
I hope that the above has given you some ideas of small companies that you can easily start with little capital. Good luck.
